The Anticipation for Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer
Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting the first glimpse of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a highly anticipated film set to hit theaters in late July 2026. The excitement has been building, especially after apparent leaks of the trailer surfaced online back in December 2025. But here's the twist: despite the buzz, we're now in February 2026, and the trailer is nowhere to be found.
This contrast is even more noticeable when compared to Marvel's marketing strategy for Avengers: Doomsday. That film, releasing in December, has already unleashed not one or two, but a whopping four teaser trailers! Each teaser enjoyed a week-long exclusive run in theaters before Avatar: Fire & Ash, creating a steady build-up of anticipation.
So, why the delay for Brand New Day? And what about the Super Bowl, a prime opportunity for movie trailers to shine?
The Super Bowl Mystery
As the weeks ticked by without a trailer, fans turned their hopes to the Super Bowl, a sporting event known for its thrilling movie trailer reveals. With a massive captive audience, it's a marketer's dream. However, reports suggest that neither Brand New Day nor Avengers: Doomsday will be making an appearance at the 2026 Super Bowl.
While this is a letdown, it's not entirely unexpected. Super Bowl spots are incredibly expensive, with some reports suggesting a single spot this year could cost a whopping $10 million! Given Brand New Day's expected box office success, is such an expenditure really necessary?
Sony seems to think not, and this aligns with their overall approach to the big game. The studio often skips the Super Bowl, with the only major trailers released in the last decade being 65 (2023) and Life (2017). The last time we saw a Spidey Super Bowl spot was for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, so it's not surprising that there won't be one this time around.
When Can We Expect the Trailer?
Even without a Super Bowl appearance, it's reasonable to assume the Brand New Day trailer will drop soon. One possibility is that it will follow the Super Bowl, capitalizing on the post-game hype. Sony Pictures Releasing, the movie's distributor, has an animated sports movie, Goat, releasing on February 13th, which is their biggest release until Brand New Day. Releasing the trailer in the week after the Super Bowl could be a strategic move to boost their own movie and take advantage of the double holiday weekend (Valentine's Day and President's Day).
Beyond that, it's harder to predict. Sony might opt for a more random release, perhaps before Pixar's Hoppers on March 6th, or Project Hail Mary on March 20th, which is expected to be a hit. If they want to push it further, there's always The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in April, which is predicted to gross over $1 billion.
However, a Spider-Man movie trailer is always an event, regardless of the timing. Previous Spider-Man films, like Homecoming and Far From Home, released their first trailers around this time of year. But Sony took a different approach with Spider-Man: No Way Home, using the hype to their advantage. The first trailer for No Way Home dropped in August 2021, ahead of its December release, and it paid off, grossing an impressive $1.9 billion.
This strategy of building anticipation seems to be Sony's plan for Brand New Day as well. If they follow the same pattern, the trailer could release on April 6th, 2026, just 116 days before the movie. Coincidentally, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie releases on April 1st, so could the Brand New Day trailer finally arrive on April Fool's Day? It would be a bold move, but one that might just pay off with a laugh.
